Hiking with kids

Since moving to Colorado in May of 2005, Kevin has dreamed of us being an outdoor family. I think we are now ready to become one! Finally, I am not homebound with pregnancies, knee problems, or newborns and we are ready for adventure! Mom and my nephew, Jake came to visit for 10 days and we used this as an opportunity to try a couple of hikes.

First, we set out for a hike near out home. It was about 2 miles and ended at a park. We decided only to put Daniel in a backpack, but Eric ended up on my back, without a carrier for much of the way. Even though Eric likes to think of himself as a "big boy", we decided that he needed his own pack for hiking. Two days later we tried a shorter hike in the Rocky Mountain National Park. This time I carried Daniel and Dad carried Eric. Everyone got out at the waterfall and the kids even got to try out the water. We had a great time hanging out with my cousin, Brook Rivera and her family. We were quite the group with her 3 kids, my three kids and an extra nephew in tow!

We are so excited to be doing some outside activities and look forward to more hikes when the weather cools down a bit.
